Research Program<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am currently engaged in a series of research projects\u00a0\u00a0focusing on the formation, evolution and current planning challenges of large panel housing areas in Estonia and the Baltic States.<\/p>\n

In the former Soviet Union, migration patterns produced a layer of ethnic segregation in post-Soviet cities, however the socioeconomic and ethnic dimensions of segregation were not strongly related to each other. Ethnic differences in housing were quite pronounced at the end of the Soviet period (early 1990s), and, despite evidence of decreasing housing inequality in the cities of Estonia (and throughout Eastern Europe), such changes have been too modest to overcome inherited patterns of segmentation, especially in the urban housing system, from the Soviet period.<\/p>\n
